Behind Every Case Is a Person We Fought For
At LLM Solicitors, every case represents more than a legal challenge — it’s a story of strategy, persistence, and justice.
Our case studies show how careful preparation, technical insight, and fearless advocacy have delivered outcomes that change lives — from major fraud and EncroChat prosecutions to youth justice, appeals, and defence of professional misconduct. Each case highlights the same principles that define our practice.
Firearms Conspiracy (EncroChat Case)
LLM represented a client charged in a high-profile firearms conspiracy case at the Central Criminal Court. The case centred on EncroChat evidence — a now-notorious encrypted messaging system once used by organised crime groups.
Key Challenges:
- Undertook a detailed analysis of the evidential acquisition process.
- Submitted legal argument on admissibility, citing breaches of procedural and statutory safeguards.
- Engaged with expert technical witnesses on encryption and data handling integrity.
Outcome:
LLM’s client was the only defendant acquitted in the case — all others were convicted.
The “Ring Doorbell” Murder Case
LLM defended a man charged with murder following an incident widely reported as the “Ring Doorbell Murder”. The client had returned home after seeing intruders entering his property via live camera footage.
Key Challenges:
- Distinguishing fear-based reaction from retaliatory intent.
- Addressing forensic evidence around the direction and force of the stab wound.
- Managing public and jury perception shaped by intense media attention.
Outcome:
The client was acquitted of murder and convicted of manslaughter, recognising the defence’s argument that his actions were not premeditated.
Wrongful Imprisonment: Acid Attack Allegation
LLM Solicitors represented Anthony Brack, a 51-year-old Toxteth man who spent nearly six months in custody accused of carrying out a corrosive substance attack — an offence carrying a potential 16-year prison sentence.
Key Challenges:
- Prosecution delays and disclosure failures meant key evidence was withheld for months.
- The medical reports revealed the complainant had previously self-inflicted chemical burns and made other false assault allegations.
- The initial investigation had failed to corroborate the timeline or verify her account against CCTV.
Outcome:
When the matter came before Judge Steven Everett at Liverpool Crown Court, the CPS offered no evidence, and Mr Brack was formally acquitted on all counts.
Murder Conviction: Fatal Stabbing at House Party
LLM Solicitors acted in the defence of Adam Fletcher, a 28-year-old man accused of the murder of Paul Stenson, a father of two, following a confrontation outside a house party in Liverpool.
Key Challenges:
- Meticulously reconstructed the incident using the digital video evidence.
- Demonstrated the immediacy and emotional intensity of the situation.
- Presented expert testimony to contextualise the client’s reaction as proportionate under threat.
Outcome:
After more than eight hours of jury deliberation, Fletcher was convicted of murder.
Client Feedback
“My case was handled very well. James was very professional and explained what was happening really well, so I could understand.
Brilliant law firm.
Would definitely use LLM again if needed (but hopefully not).”
